BDU Model United Nations Team Sponsors First Conference

The Ben Davis University High School Model United Nations team sponsored its first conference on Saturday, April 16. Students from three other high schools joined BDU students to represent 23 different countries while debating the issue of alleged Chinese human rights abuses against the Uyghur people. Indiana State Representative Renee Pack offered a keynote address in which she challenged the students to remain engaged in civic issues while continuing to pursue high achievements and remaining true to themselves, and the Indiana University Model United Nations team sent two representatives to moderate the committee. At the conclusion of the day, BDU students Corbyn Stewart and Carlos Garcia Jimenez (representing India), and Abdi Muse and Abril Delgado (representing Somalia) all received Honorable Mention awards. The team is looking forward to making this a yearly event.
