A Message From Dr. Suggs

Welcome to The Wayne Wire! This newsletter is our space to celebrate, inform, and connect. Because great schools don’t happen without great communities — and great communities don't happen without great schools.

For over thirty years, my career has been dedicated to the MSD of Wayne Township — beginning as an English teacher at Ben Davis High School and culminating in the honor of serving as your Superintendent. I bring a perspective forged through experience at every level of this district. I am committed to a vision where every student is on a path to success long after graduation.

I also believe in being transparent and proactive with you about the challenges we face together.

Senate Enrolled Act 1 has significantly changed the property tax landscape in Indiana, reducing the revenue available to schools across the state. Wayne Township is among the hardest hit. My administration has moved quickly and deliberately to respond — making difficult but necessary decisions to achieve a balanced budget while protecting what matters most: our students. That work, and the transparency behind it, is what the pages that follow are about.

Great public schools are not just an educational necessity. They are an economic engine and a pillar of stability for every homeowner in Wayne Township — whether or not you have a child in our schools. Strong, high-performing school districts consistently correlate with better property values, protecting your most valuable asset. I look forward to continuing to work alongside you as partners to make Wayne Township a better place to live, work, and raise a family for this and future generations.

Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your investment in Wayne Township. Let's discover what's possible when our schools and community stand side by side.

I am Wayne. You are Wayne. We are Wayne.

Dr. Shenia Suggs, Superintendent
