Stout Field Elementary Hosts "Reading Timeout" with Indiana Pacers

Stout Field Elementary Hosts "Reading Timeout" with Indiana Pacers

Students at Stout Field Elementary got a special visit from the Indiana Pacers organization on March 6, as the school hosted a "Reading Timeout" event in celebration of Read Across America Week.

Members of the Pacemates Dance Team, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield employees, and school staff volunteers joined 90 fourth-grade students for a morning of reading and fun. Students were grouped into small circles where guest readers led read-aloud sessions, followed by a lively jeopardy-style activity.

The event, presented by the Pacers and sponsored by Anthem, also featured a special video message from Pacers forward Jarace Walker, who challenged students to keep reading beyond the classroom. Students wrapped up the morning with raffle prizes and take-home giveaways.

Events like these remind students that reading is exciting — and that their community is cheering them on. Stout Field Elementary is proud to be part of this partnership and looks forward to watching its students rise to the reading challenge ahead!
